What does it mean if I receive spam email with my e-mail address as the sender?

I have received spam e-mail in my bulk that had my e-mail address as the sender. When I go to Sent, there is nothing there that says I sent it. What is up with this?

    It is a relatively simple programming technique that spammers use to get you to open their mails. If they make it look like it is coming from yourself, you are likely more inclined to open it.
    Spammers use lots of tricks like that. The lesson is to NEVER open mails from anyone you don’t know and trust. NEVER.
