Good website or list of items to have stocked in your pantry?

After moving into a new house, you’re always realizing that something is missing… it takes time to really stock the new house back up with things you might need.
I’m also trying to buy in bulk and have food stocked up because our income varies and some months we don’t really have much grocery money.

If you have a good list, or a good website to reccommend, please do. Thanks!

  1. Sorry I don’t have the web site that I sent to my daughter…just what you are looking for. I think it was on one of the cooking sites.
I forwarded it so no record.

  2. Well, hopefully this link is going to work for you. The entire booklet is a good one, but you really want pages 20-27. The entire booklet is 34 pages long.

    Here’s the link:

If you want more tips on stocking up, or purchasing in bulk, email me. I’ve had a WELL stocked household pantry for many years now. We ONLY purchase in bulk.

  3. Well if you’re stocking up because you’re concerned about decreasing income or inflation, then focus on commodity items that are heavy. Right now gas is cheap again, but that could change.

When gas was twice as high a few months ago, that automatically means it costs more to haul things that weigh a lot like milk, bottled water, flour, rice, etc. Dairy products aside, those are all things that can be stocked up on without fear of going bad. You can also stockpile canned beans, vegetables & soups as canned goods have a long shelf life (the more acidic the ingredients (ie: tomato) the longer the life.

People often hit Cost-Co for these items, but honestly they are not always cheaper, and they can be more time consuming to shop in, to say nothing of having to pay to shop there. Wal-Mart and Super-Target are usually as good if not better on a lot of items and you don’t have to buy huge quantities.
