adding supplements to a workout?

I am getting ready to deploy, and am going to hit the gym hard while I am away to get myself into better shape. I have seen so many different types of supplements out there on the market. I am looking to add a little more bulk(175lbs now), but lose around 8-10% body fat(around 19% now). For someone who has never used any supplements before which is a good choice to start off with? I am currently using Xenadrine on a daily basis.

  1. The best supplement is a good healthy diet. Eat more lean meats which will give you extra protein.

  2. Avoid Xenadrine if your trying to bulk.

Get a good creatine, BCAA, glutamine, and protein isolate… and most of all a multi vitamin!

Xenadrine has Caffeine, which is good for cutting weight, mental alertness, etc.. But hinders muscle mass gains, as it constricts your blood vessels, and this restricts BCAA etc getting to the muscles.

You have to cycle caffeine, when you get the mass you want, use caffeine for that energy boost, to push max sets etc.

Protein is your main Suppliment. The rest you just dont need as you ge them anyways. Suppliments mean big $$ for the companies making them, and telling you, you need them.

Creatine will assist, but some people don’t respond to it. Stick with Creatine Monohydrate, its the only proven one. Esters etc are still up in the air.

Glutamine will restore glycogen levels, and help repair.. Best taken after a workout, and before bed.

BCAA before and after a workout. This assists in avoiding muscle break down, repair, and helping absorb the protein you take in. Mind you they are the building blocks of protein anyways.
