I was nostalgic a couple weeks ago and started looking around for old high school and college friends on the internet. I found that a college friend is now a professor at a university. I went to the university website which had a picture of her (she hasn’t changed a bit!) and her email address.
I sent her an email titled “A Blast from the Past”. My email address is my first initial and my last name, so I thought if she was at all suspicious she would at least look at the name and hopefully realize it was not spam.
Since it’s Spring Break season, and this was her work address, I gave it a couple weeks, just in case she was gone the week I sent it. That was almost 2 weeks ago.
We didn’t end our friendship on bad terms…just sort of drifted apart. She ended up on the east coast, I stayed in the midwest. After not hearing from her for several years, I got an invite to her wedding. I sent her a card with a note saying I couldn’t make it, but then never heard from her again.
So my question is, do you think she just looked at the title of the email and deleted it, thinking it was spam? and if so, should I send it again, maybe changing the title?
Or should I let it drop, assuming she’s not interested in renewing a friendship from her past? We’ve been out of college for 25 years, and I last heard from her 15-17 years ago.
I would try again with your name as the subject..If you get no response this time then don’t bother with her again..Some friendships die for a reason..Hope she responds.
she may very well have thought it was spam.
or, maybe you’ve changed your last name since then?
either way,
if it means that much to you.
give it one more try,
title it something like “hello, its [your name]”
and if she still does not reply
you can assume she is just busy,
or not interested.
good luck
What if she doesn’t even check that email anymore, or she’s in the hospital? U never know.
Try it one more time but in your subject line put (your college name) alumni. Good luck
