I have many issues with what seems to be a poorly designed interface for bulk mail. Occasionally a valid email will go into bulk mail and you have to check the bulk folder to see if your mail is there.
Issue 1: Given that valid emails will sometimes get flagged as bulk, why isn’t the bulk folder searchable? This would relieve most of the other issues.
Issue 2: Spammers use future dates to make their mail go to the top. I have to delete pages and pages, one at a time, which is a very tedious process, just to get to a real date where my valid email might be. Knowing that this is a tactic of spammers, has Yahoo implemented some more practical way to deal with this?
Issue 3: If I switch it to list older mail first, there are pages and pages of old spam I have to delete one at a time to reach a valid date where my mail might be.
Are there any methods that people know of to deal with this in a more practical manner or is Yahoo’s interface for bulk mail just hopelessly inadequate?
JR: You didn’t read my post. Bulk mail is not searchable. That’s the problem!
Card Reader: You gave a nice FAQ about dealing with spam, but you also don’t appear to read my post which is specific. Since VALID messages will inevitably get marked as spam on occasion, I have issues with finding those messages. I have set most of the options you discussed.
#3: Why would I want to search bulk mail? Because the filter is not perfect and sometimes valid messages get marked as spam. Until they make the spam filter 100% perfect, this will remain an issue.
well first of all u have to type in the tittle then delete the email.
You can do a mail search for a particular date. By selecting a “dated between ?/?/??”, have it seacrh your bulk folder for the specific date(s) and then you’ll be able to see only the ones you want, until you move to another folder.

Yes, lots of things you need to do.
First, you haven’t SET any of your EMAIL OPTIONS yet. I will explain how to do this below.
Second, when you need to delete or spam in your Bulk folder, at the top of the list is a box that says Sender. Click on that, it will check and highlight the list shown, then click on Delete or Spam. The entire list will be gone and your next page of Bulk will show up.
Be sure to go through your mail options and do the following:
To STOP receiving unwanted (Spam/Bulk/Junk) email, do the following:
Log into your Email, go to Options (upper right hand side). Go through all your settings and don’t forget to save them too.
Under Spam Protection, make sure your Spam Guard is turned ON. Option to immediately delete all Spam messages. This will force all new email to redirect to your Inbox. Option to Block messages that you mark as Spam. If you plan on keeping your
Bulk folder, also option messages you mark as Not-Spam to be moved to your Inbox. Always Option to Block all Images until you can look them over first. This prevents spammers from knowing you opened their email. Save Changes.
Under Blocked Addresses, type in spammer.com, this will stop all Spam that has been reported to Yahoo from ever entering your email. I recommend you remove everything on your list first. This will give you a fresh start after you type in the “spammer.com”.
Under General Preferences, Folders/Search Results, Special Folders, option to redirect incoming unsolicited email to the Bulk Folder. Save.
If you get email from someone you don’t know, NEVER open it (it may contain viruses) and report it as SPAM. This will automatically block it from your email account. When you do open an email that is Spam, you have alerted the sender that your account is Active.
This will immediately stop all the Junk Mail considerably. I only get maybe one or two Spam emails a Month. Remember, anytime you give out your email address over the internet, you can expect to receive some kind of Spam, unless you have made sure that site is secured.
Good Luck!
Issue 1: perhaps email the provider or feedback to them so that they can know the functionality is wanted, but since it’s essentially made for SPAM, why would one want to search it?
Issue 2: perhaps email Yahoo about this too, since nobody answering here would probably know since they’re not coders for Yahoo Mail?
Issue 3 is the same.
I never give oout my email address so I don’t get as much spam at all and have found Yahoo’s service to be very adequate – they can only do so much, you have to meet them halfway.
