You can do it either way. Ordinarily, a publisher takes on the costs and the distributor gets it for half price. In most cases the writer ends up with very little… maybe 5 percent of the selling price. It’s hard to make things work out on low volume like that. Well, in any case, if either one of you make any money, you will be doing better than most, since low volume printing is quite expensive per book.
Big profits only come with big volume in that industry… unless you are selling some high priced specialty item.
I hope you can prove me wrong… good luck.
Either way. The thing is you self published and therefore your book isn’t being properly distributed and marketed by a publisher/ How many books do you think this guy can sell for you? 100? That is the average sale for a self published book. Lulu states their goal is to sell 100 copies of 5 million books rather than 5 million copies of 100 books. Good for them – not so good for you. If he is taking the risk by investing in the stock, expect his cut to be larger than yours.
